Adeline Boutang Student File

Student file of Adeline Boutang, a member of the Chippewa Nation, who entered the school on September 23, 1906, and ultimately departed on June 24, 1912. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, a photograph, medical/physical records, applications for enrollment, a former student response postcard, outing evaluations, an outing record, trade/position record cards, progress/conduct cards, and a report after leaving. The file indicates Boutang was living in Cass Lake, Minnesota in 1912 and 1913.

Note: Some of Adeline Boutang's documents were originally found in the folder of another student; Nellie Boutang, NARA_RG 75_Series 1327_box 76_folder 3681.

Note: Adeline Boutang and Nellie Boutang were probably sisters.

The file contains a student information card, a conduct card, a position record card, a newspaper clipping, an application for enrollment, a returned student survy, a letter, outing evaluations, an outing record, and a report after leaving indicating Desautel was doing housework in Fruitland, Washington in 1912.

Student file of Lucy Desautel, a member of the Spokane Nation, who entered the school on October 21, 1906 and departed on February 8, 1911. The file contains a student information card, an application for enrollment, a medical/physical record, a news clipping, a returned student survey, a former student response postcard, an outing evaluation, an outing record, a progress/conduct card, and a report after leaving. The file indicates Desautel was assisting her sister with housework and raising her children in Black Rock, Idaho in 1911 and a nurse in Fruitland, Washington in 1914.

Myrtle Thomas Student File

Student file of Myrtle Thomas, a member of the Chippewa Nation, who entered the school on October 6, 1908 and ultimately graduated in 1914, departing on June 4, 1914. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, applications for enrollment, a former student response postcard, outing evaluations, a returned student survey, a report after leaving, financial transactions, outing records, a progress/conduct card, and letters/correspondence.

The file indicates that Thomas attended the YMCA convention in Williamsport, Pennsylvania in 1913, was awarded an essay prize, lived in Shell Lake, Wisconsin in 1913 and 1914, and was an assistant seamstress and government employee at the Tulalip Indian Agency in Tulalip, Washington in 1914 and 1915.

Note: At the time of scanning at the U.S. National Archives, a document in this student file seemed to relate to a different student, Florence May Garlow. That document has now been included with the Florence May Garlow file: NARA_RG 75_Series 1327_box 85_3948.

The files indicate that Metoxen was interested in entering the Nurses' Training School at Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
