Cora Elm Student File

Student file of Cora Elm, a member of the Oneida Nation, who entered the school on December 23, 1906, graduated in 1913, and ultimately departed on September 24, 1914. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, photographs, financial transactions, applications for enrollment, outing records, a progress/conduct card, outing evaluations, medical/physical records, a returned student survey, and letters/correspondence.

The file indicates that Elm was a student in the nurses training course at the Protestant Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1913 and 1914 on the outing program, continued the course in 1914, and graduated in 1916.  It also shows that she was the supervisor of wards at the Protestant Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1917, and was a nurse with the American Expeditionary Force, Unit 34 based in France in 1917 and 1918.

The file indicates that Welch was married to former student Robert Crowe and was living in Cherokee, North Carolina in 1913.

The files indicate that after graduating Mt. Pleasant retured home to Sanborn, New York.

The file indicates Blackbird was living in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin in 1915.

Note: Blackbird married fellow student Thomas DeVine.
