Philip Clairmont Student File

Student file of Philip Clairmont, a member of the Sioux Nation, who entered the school on September 13, 1908 and ultimately departed on August 1, 1918. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, applications for enrollment, medical/physical records, a progress/conduct card, a trade/position record card, an outing record, outing evaluations, financial transactions, and letters/correspondence. The file indicates Clairmont worked with the Ford Motor Company in 1917 on the outing program, was living in Mission, South Dakota in 1918, and was stationed with the Co. 43, 11th Battalion, 163 Depot Brigade at Camp Dodge, Iowa in 1918.

Note: In this file the student is identified as Philip Clairmont, Philip Claymore, Judson Clairmont, and Judson Claymore.

Note: At the time of scanning at the U.S. National Archives, a document related in this student file seemed to relate to different students, Mary Madbear and Scholastica Madbear. Frank Abrams Student File

Student file of Frank Abrams, a member of the Seneca Nation, who entered the school on September 20, 1910. A note in the file indicates that he re-enrolled on June 11, 1916 but no final departure date is given. The file contains student information cards, an application for enrollment, a medical/physical record, an outing evaluation, outing records, trade/position record cards, a progress/conduct card, financial transactions, a returned student survey, a certificate of promotion, and letters/correspondence. The file indicates that Abrams worked with the Ford Motor Co. in 1917 and 1918 on the outing program and that after completing the students' course at the Ford Motor Co., was transferred to the Transportation Department and then the Transmission Department at the company in 1918.

Note: The student is referred to in this file as both Frank Abrams and Frank Abram.

Charlotte Smith Student File

Student file of Charlotte Smith, a member of the Chippewa Nation, who entered the school on September 4, 1915. No departure date is given. The file contains an application for enrollment, letters, an outing evaluation, discussion of financial transactions, an outing record, and student information cards. The file indicates that Charlotte planned to stay at the home of Eleanor T. Dillenback, her outing patron at the time, after the Indian school closed in 1918. She wanted to finish high school in Germantown, Pennsylvania and eventually work at the Chestnut Hill Hospital.
