Annie George (Smoke) Student File

Student file of Annie George a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on December 14, 1893, graduated in 1898, and departed on August 28, 1899. The file contains student information cards, photographs, returned student surveys, a report after leaving, and a letter/correspondence. The file indicates George attended the Drexel Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1899, was a seamstress in the Indian Service for six years, sand was a housewife in Cherokee, North Carolina from 1907 to 1911.

Note: In this file the student is identified as Annie George and Annie George (Smoke)

Joseph A. Saunooke Student File

Student file of Joseph A. Saunooke, a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on December 14, 1893, and departed on March 7, 1899.  The file contains a student information card, a returned student survey, a former student response postcard, correspondence, and a report after leaving.  According to the files, Saunooke was the Principal Chief of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in 1914.

Student file of William Sherville, a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on December 14, 1893 and departed on May 18, 1897. The file contains a student information card, a letter, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving indicating that in 1911 Sherville had married Mollie Trexler and was stock raising in Wolf Point, Montana.

John Jassan Student File

Student file of John Jassan, a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on December 14, 1893, and departed on June 26, 1900.  The file contains a student information card and a report after leaving that indicates that, in 1910, Jassan was serving as a farm hand in Newtown, Pennsylvania.

Student file of Sibbald Smith, a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on December 14, 1893, and departed on September 30, 1894.  The file contains a student information card, a former student response postcard, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving indicating that Smith was living in Cherokee, North Carolina between 1910 and 1913 working as a farmer.

Student file of Dahnola Jassan, a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on March 31, 1894, and departed on July 1, 1898.  The file contains a student information card, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving indicating that he was working as a clerk for a storekeeper in Cherokee, North Carolina, in 1910.

Note: This student is known as both Dahnola Jassan and Dahnola Jessan.

Goliath Bigjim (Gillowich) Student Information Cards

Student information cards of Goliath Bigjim (Gillowich), a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on June 10, 1894 and ultimately departed on August 19, 1903.

Note: After leaving the school, Bigjim seems to have primarily used the name James B. Driver. He has a student file under that name.

James B. Driver (Goliath Bigjim) Student File

Student file of James B. Driver, a member of the Cherokee Nation. No entrance or departure dates are given. The file contains letters/correspondence, photographs, a newspaper clipping, a trade/position record card, and a report after leaving. The file indicates Driver was on the track and field team at Carlisle in 1900, 1901, 1902, and 1903, owned a bakery in Derry Church, Pennsylvania (Hershey, Pennsylvania) in 1910, was living in Derry Church, Pennsylvania in 1912, and continued to own his own bakery in Hershey, Pennsylvania in 1914.

Note: While attending the school, Driver went by the name Goliath Bigjim (or one of several variations of that name). Under that name there are records that indicate he entered the school on June 10, 1894 and ultimately departed on August 19, 1903.

Lessla Bigjim (Lasslilih) Student File

Student file of Lessla Bigjim (Lasslilih), a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on June 10, 1894 and departed on April 4, 1899. The file contains a student information card and a report after leaving indicating that Bigjim was working as a farm hand in 1910.

Note: In this file the student is identified as Lessla Bigjim and Lassla Bigjim.

Peter Long (T-chu-dah-u lah tah) Student File

Student file of Peter Long (T-chu-dah-u lah tah), a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on June 10, 1894, and departed on September 19, 1899.  The file contains a student information card, a returned student survey, and a report after leaving indicating that he was working as a solder in the United States Army, stationed in Columbus, Ohio, in 1910.

Mary Wolfe Student File

Student file of Mary Wolfe, a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on September 15, 1894 and departed on May 18, 1900. The file contains a student information card, a letter, and a report after leaving indicating that in 1911 Wolfe was living in Pryor, Montana as a housewife.

David Bird Student File

Student file of David Bird, a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on October 8, 1895 and ultimately departed on April 15, 1917. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, a returned student survey, applications for enrollment, medical/physical records, an outing evaluation, a progress/conduct card, a report after leaving, an outing record, financial transactions including credit from the Athletic Association to local merchants, and letters/correspondence. The file indicates Bird was on the football team and was transferring to the Charlotte, North Carolina branch of the Ford Motor Company in 1917.

Student information cards of Minnie Nick, a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on March 13, 1896 and ultimately departed on September 27, 1905.

Bessie Nick (Eganola) Student File

Student File of Bessie Nick (Eganola), a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on March 13, 1896, and departed on June 26, 1905. The file contains a student information card, and a report after leaving indicating Nick was married and a housewife in 1910.

Note: This file originally contained student information cards for another student named Chiltoski (Tossie) Nick, who is Bessie's brother. Minnie Nick is a sister of Bessie and Tossie.

Chiltoski Nick Student File

Student file for Chiltoski Nick, a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on March 13, 1896, and ultimately departed the school on March 22, 1905. The student did not attend the school continuously, but left and reentered. The file contains three student information cards indicating that Chiltoski, who also went by the nickname Tossie, graduated with the class of 1905.

Note: These student information cards were found in the student file of Bessie Nick, a sister of Chiltoski. Minnie Nick is another sister of Chiltoski.

Minnie Nick Student Information Card

Student information card of Minnie Nick, a member of the Cherokee Nation, who entered the school on March 13, 1896 and departed on September 27, 1905. The information card indicates that Nick graduated in 1904, studied dressmaking, married Joseph Sauve, and was living in Steelton, Pennsylvania in 1913. 

Note: Bessie Nick and Chiltoski (Tossie) Nick are siblings of Minnie Nick.
