John Baptiste Student File

Student file of John Baptiste, a member of the Winnebago Nation, who entered the school on September 24, 1890, graduated in 1893, and departed on March 6, 1893. The file contains a student information card, a returned student survey, a letter/correspondence, and a report after leaving. The file indicates Baptiste attended the Hampton Normal and Agricultural Institute in Hampton, Virginia in 1895 and 1896, was a railroader in Winnebago, Nebraska in 1907, worked with the Smithsonian Institute on the etymology and ethnology of the Winnebago Tribe in 1909, and was a farmer in Winnebago, Nebraska in 1910.

In school documentation John Baptiste is also known as Snake.
