Student Files

The Student Files section of the website features digitized copies of paper records on individual students at the school. These records were maintained by the administrative offices at the school during its years of operation. A variety of personal information about each student may be found within these files, including family background, age, height and weight. Files may also include information about admission and dates of attendance, outings, health, school activities, and life after separation from the school. A guide to the types of documents typically found among these files can be found here. Today these records are preserved at the U. S. National Archives within Record Group 75, Entry numbers 1327 through 1330.

Hattie Long Wolf Student File

Student file of Hattie Long Wolf. No arrival and departure dates are given, and no Nation is given. The file contains a returned student survey. 

Note: Hattie Long Wolf was among the first group of students to arrive at Carlisle on October 6, 1879. She graduated in 1892.

Ernest Student Information Card

Student information card of Ernest, a member of the Sioux Nation, who entered the school on October 6, 1879 and died on December 14, 1880 while attending the school. He was buried in the cemetery on the school grounds.
