Student Files

The Student Files section of the website features digitized copies of paper records on individual students at the school. These records were maintained by the administrative offices at the school during its years of operation. A variety of personal information about each student may be found within these files, including family background, age, height and weight. Files may also include information about admission and dates of attendance, outings, health, school activities, and life after separation from the school. A guide to the types of documents typically found among these files can be found here. Today these records are preserved at the U. S. National Archives within Record Group 75, Entry numbers 1327 through 1330.

John Mathews Student File

Student file of John Mathews, a member of the Osage Nation, who entered the school on September 4, 1917 and ultimately departed January 14, 1918. The student did not attend the school continuously but left and reentered. The file contains student information cards, an application for enrollment, and letters and correspondence indicating that after Mathews left the school he may have gone to California with his mother.

Note: The last name is sometimes spelled as Matthews in the documentation, but the single "t" spelling is believed to be the preferred family spelling.
