These documents include correspondence, graduation pamphlets, and other forms of ephemera, and have been digitized by Digital Resource Center staff. Today, these documents are preserved in a number of locations, including the Dickinson College Archives and Special Collections as well as private collections.

Samuel Wetzel, Superintendent of Building and Repairs, prepares a blueprint and estimate of cost, amounting to $1,165.94, for the chapel and assembly room. Richard H. Pratt forwards both documents to Commissioner of Indian Affairs E. A. Hayt and includes an explanatory cover letter.

Richard Henry Pratt forwards two letters to Commissioner of Indian Affairs E. A. Hayt and gives his side of the story regarding beef prices for the Rosebud Agency. Included is a letter from William Huston to Pratt regarding how much beef Pratt bought from him and asks if the amount was 367 pounds for $36.70. Pratt also includes his reply to Huston.

View Document: Dispute over Beef Pricing for Rosebud Agency
Date: November 17, 1879
Richard Henry Pratt forwards to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs a letter, penned by James E. Rhodes of Germantown, Pennsylvania. Rhodes asks if the son of one of his Seneca friends, John Kennedy, might be allowed to enroll at Carlisle. Pratt notes that he is willing to accept the boy, if the Commissioner approves.

Richard Henry Pratt provides Commissioner of Indian Affairs E. A. Hayt with a variety of updates about the Carlisle Indian School: everyone is in good health, he will send Hayt a uniform sample in a few days, his corps of assistants is almost complete, he's found a clerk, he'd like to keep a former Carlisle Barracks employee on the staff for building renovations, some of the male students are stealing tobacco and smoking heavily, he's buying beef at $5.49, and Chief American Horse and other chiefs have written about visiting in the spring.

Richard H. Pratt informs Commissioner of Indian Affairs E. A. Hayt that Dr. J. J. Bender would be willing to be the Indian School's doctor for $600 per year. However, Dr. Bender is the leading physician in the town of Carlisle and has many patients. Pratt suggests that it could be better for the Indian School to hire its own physician.
